A managed classroom? Why?

As a future educator the question of how your classroom will function should be a question that is always on your mind. What procedures and protocols will you chose to implement into your everyday of educating? While each individual teacher might have their own way of organizing their classroom, one common key factor in every classroom is classroom management.

Why is classroom management important?

There are many reasons why effective classroom management is important. It can help create a positive learning environment, prevent disruptive behavior, and set clear expectations for student behavior. Classroom management can also make it easier to teach effectively and efficiently, as it can help reduce the amount of time spent dealing with disruptive behavior.

Best practices for classroom management include:

    • establishing rules, routines, and expectations
    • reinforcing positive behavior through praise
    • consistently enforcing consequences for misbehavior
    • maximizing structure
    • fostering student engagement by including opportunities for active student participation

When children are in a classroom environment that has a structured foundational base of classroom management, they will be more inclined to retain more of the information being instructed in the classroom.
